ELDRIDGE - Davenport West (boys) and Muscatine (girls) were the first-place winners for best overall sportsmanship in the 2008-09 Rotary International/Mississippi Athletic Conference sportsmanship awards competition.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
West Boys Soccer won the sportsmanship award for their 2009 season.  Davenport West Boys won best overall sportsmanship for the 2008-2009 school year.
This is a team effort between coaches, players and parents.  Job well done!!

DANCE TEAM  State competition in Des Moines on December 5

The team competed with 3 dances; pom, kick, & hip hop.  They placed in all 3 routines and have trophies for all of them.  In pom and hip hop they received 4th place and in kick they received 5th place.  This is the first time a Davenport West dance/pom team has received a trophy placement at the State Competition (the girls made school history).  They also received a plaque for being "Academic Distinguished" meaning as a team they had a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0.  In addition, the team received a banner and plaque for being named "Character Counts Team of the Year". 

Great job girls!!!!!!

BOYS SOCCER

Boys will be in the weight room on Monday, Wednesday and Friday after school starting January 6th.

Speed and Agility will take place on Tuesday and Thursday after school starting Jan. 12 through Jan. 11.

Open gyms are on Sundays in the West Gym from 6:00-8:00 p.m starting Jan. 10 with NO OPEN GYM Jan. 17.  The last open gym will be Feb. 28.
